Spiti Valley is a cold desert in the Trans-Himalayan belt of Himachal Pradesh โ€” think monasteries perched on cliffs, turquoise high-altitude lakes and villages that feel closer to Tibet than to the rest of India. It's a longer, more remote trip than Shimla-Manali, best suited to travellers comfortable with high altitude and long drive days.

FAQs

Spiti Valley FAQs

Is Spiti Valley difficult because of altitude?+

Kaza sits at roughly 3,800m, so mild altitude discomfort (headache, breathlessness) is common for the first day. We build in acclimatisation time and avoid rushing straight to the highest points.

Can Chandertal Lake be added to this package?+

Yes, Chandertal can be added as an extension depending on road conditions and season โ€” let us know while booking.

Do I need any permits for Spiti?+

Indian nationals currently don't need an Inner Line Permit for most of Spiti; foreign nationals may need one for certain stretches.
